Three ProTek Devices ESD Protection Diodes Now AEC-Q101 Qualified for Automotive Use

TEMPE, Ariz., June 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- ProTek Devices™ today announced three of its electrostatic discharge protection diodes (ESD protection diodes) are now AEC-Q101 qualified, making the components ideal for circuit protection in tough automotive environments. The now qualified components are the PAM1CAN, PAM2CAN and PAM1FLEX. Collectively, these devices also cover circuit protection in related applications such as CAN Bus, DeviceNet Bus and Flex Bus lines.

According to the Automotive Electronics Council (AEC) website, the AEC Component Technical Committee is the standardization body for establishing standards for reliable, high quality electronic components. Components meeting these specifications are suitable for use in harsh automotive environments without additional component-level qualification testing. The qualifying ProTek Devices parts also already met other important standards. They are compatible with IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD): air 15kV, contact 8kV; with IEC 61000-4-4 (EFT): 40A, 5/50ns; and with IEC 61000-4-5 (surge): 3A, 8/20 micro seconds. They are also RoHS and REACH compliant.

The PAM1CAN and PAM1FLEX feature 200 watts peak pulse power per line (typical = 8/20 micro seconds) while the PAM2CAN boasts 230 watts peak pulse power per line (all at tp = 8/20 micro seconds). All three parts deliver circuit protection in up to two lines. ESD protection is > 25 kilovolts. The components all provide a low clamping voltage, low capacitance and low leakage current. They are provided in a molded JEDEC SOT-23 package.

Pricing and Availability
All components are now available in mass quantities. Pricing varies by amounts. Minimum quantities start at 3,000 pieces in 8mm tape and reel, per EIA standard 481. Interested parties should inquire with a local authorized distributor or representative, or directly with ProTek Devices. Full contact details, data sheets and other documentation can be found on the ProTek Devices website.
