Dropbox Expands Developer Platform to Enable Secure Mobile CollaborationDropbox today announced the upcoming availability of Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM), an important capability for Dropbox (News - Alert) for Business customers. Offered through upcoming partner solutions, EMM will allow businesses to give their employees safe access to mobile devices for work through trusted partner applications. Partners including AirWatch (News - Alert) and MobileIron have already committed to enterprise integrations, which will be available to customers in the coming months. Dropbox will offer EMM through partner integrations via the Dropbox for Business API, which helps companies seamlessly integrate Dropbox for Business into their core IT processes. The company launched the Dropbox for Business API with 20 industry-leading partners in December 2014. Recent updates to the API include key enhancements for enterprise - including the recent addition of capabilities for managing groups and shared folders. "Companies of all sizes continue to embrace Dropbox for Business because it's the best place to get work done together - no matter what device you're using," said Rob Baesman, head of product for Dropbox for Business. "EMM represents an important step for our customers that need to bolster mobile security and keep company information safe without impacting the Dropbox experience they know and love." To support the mobile platforms that companies and individuals use most, Dropbox is working with a number of key EMM partners. One way Dropbox is doing this is by embracing open standards, which allows the company to meet the needs of customers in many global geographies. For example, Dropbox is joining AirWatch in their effort to standardize public applications and development in the enterprise with ACE (App Configuration for Enterprise), an open standard approach for managing and securing apps deployed via EMM solutions. In addition to its support of open standards, Dropbox is teaming with MobileIron to integrate with their platform. MobileIron combined with Dropbox for Business will allow IT to secure and manage devices, apps and Dropbox content providing end-users with instant access to corporate data on a device of their choice.
