Ooredoo Celebrates Multiple Award Wins in Asia


DOHA, Qatar, June 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Ooredoo was awarded a series of wins in the recent GTB Innovation, Telecom Asia, Asia Communication Awards and Asia Pacific Stevie Awards held in London, Jakarta, Singapore and Shanghai respectively.  Ooredoo was singled out as having achieved particular success in the Asia Communication Awards as the only entrant to be recognised in three categories.

Ali Hamad Al-Sulaiti, Senior Manager, PR, Ooredoo; Bambang Wibowo, MD of Indosat Singapore and Randy Pangalila, Group Head Mobile Financial Services, Indosat collect the Connected Asia Award at the Asia Communication Awards.

The honours, listed below, are tremendous recognition of the innovative, community-focused solutions Ooredoo is bringing to people in Myanmar and, along with group member Indosat, Indonesia.

Myanmar maternal healthcare app, 'maymay', celebrated success across the board. The app was singled out for the innovative way in which it bridges the mobile and health sectors to help ensure that useful maternal, child health and wellness information is readily available to women across the country both during and after pregnancy.  This is of particular importance in Myanmar given the number of issues around maternal health which exist, including high infant mortality rates and challenging levels of baby malnutrition.  The app currently has over 11,000 users.

Recognised for its work to create a vibrant digital ecosystem in Indonesia, Indosat swept to success at the Asia Pacific Stevies collecting four awards, including an honour in the Most Innovative Company of the Year category.  Reflecting a common focus for Ooredoo across all of its operations, Indosat's creative approach to providing excellent home-grown digital solutions also saw INSPERA, Dompetku, Google Carrier Billing and ideabox achieve recognition across a variety of categories.
