Bessemer Venture Partners Names Former Eloqua Chief Architect Umair Akeel as Chief Technology Officer in Residence and Operating Partner


Bessemer Venture Partners (BVP), a $4 billion global venture capital firm, today announced the appointment of Umair Akeel to chief technology officer in residence (CTO-IR) and operating partner. Umair will serve as a technology resource for all BVP portfolio companies, as well as help BVP analyze innovative technology trends and products globally.

Formerly chief architect of Eloqua through its IPO and subsequent acquisition by Oracle (News - Alert), Umair brings 15 years of experience in technology development and leadership in building successful solutions to the position. Umair is also a repeat successul BVP cloud entrepreneur, as the firm invested in both Eloqua and his prior company, Trigo Technologies, where he was a software engineer and then a senior architect at IBM (News - Alert) following Trigo's acquisition.

As operating partner and CTO in residence at BVP, Umair will focus on software-as-a-service and enterprise mobile deals, as well as building out future investment roadmaps for big data and developer tools. He will also serve as consulting CTO for BVP portfolio companies needing advice on development and scale.
