Devops, Workflow Automation, Scaling Jenkins Usage and Mobile Are Amongst Key Trends to Be Presented at Jenkins User Conference East

The Jenkins community, the community of practitioners using open source Jenkins, and leading organizing sponsor CloudBees, Inc., the Enterprise Jenkins Company and continuous delivery leader, today announced the upcoming agenda for the Jenkins User Conference East, to be held on Thursday, June 18, and Friday, June 19, in the Washington, D.C., metro area at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center. The conference will feature two days of Jenkins knowledge, insights and innovation, including sessions about the use of Jenkins with some of the biggest technology trends, such as DevOps, workflow automation, scaling Jenkins in the enterprise and mobile. Keynote speakers will be Kohsuke Kawaguchi, Jenkins founder, and Gene Kim (News - Alert), DevOps expert and author.

"All of us in the community are the change agents in our respective organizations, championing continuous delivery and DevOps practices with all the latest technologies at our disposal," said Kawaguchi, Jenkins founder and CTO at CloudBees. "Our attendees want to learn about best practices others in the Jenkins community are following and how they are dealing with hot topics such as DevOps, workflow automation, scaling Jenkins within the enterprise and mobile application software delivery. These topics - and more - will all be covered at JUC."

Attendees have the option to attend sessions on a variety of topics geared toward every experience level. They also have the option to cross-attend sessions at CD Summit, a conference devoted to continuous delivery topics for IT management running at the same time.

Workflow automation is the single most valuable process to support transformation to continuous delivery practices and a DevOps culture. Key sessions related to workflow automation include:

  • Jesse Glick, developer at CloudBees, will discuss the Jenkins Workflow feature and how it integrates complex, multi-step processes to extend continuous integration into continuous delivery and all the way through to production (June 18, 2:00 PM - 2:45 PM).
  • Jamie O'Meara, field engineer with Pivotal, will lead a session about development with Jenkins and deployment to Cloud Foundry, providing the simplicity of an integrated pipeline (June 19, 10:30 AM - 11:15 AM).
  • Tom Canova, IBM (News - Alert) Watson build and automation engineer, will present on the use of Jenkins Workflow to boost productivity and quality, including how to address the challenges of running tasks in parallel (June 19, 3:00 PM - 3:45 PM).

Sessions on Using Jenkins at Scale, delve into many aspects of scaling up Jenkins for continuous delivery and DevOps practices in an organization. Key sessions to attend include:

  • Richard Mills, Coveros, presents how he transformed an organization to a DevOps culture that now delivers code continuously across a large, federated big data application supported by Jenkins (June 18, 3:00 PM - 3:45 PM)
  • Kohsuke Kawaguchi and Harpreet Singh, CloudBees, will be speaking about using Jenkins and Docker to accelerate continuous delivery practices (June 18, 3:00 PM - 3:45 PM).
  • Sander Kieft, Sanoma, will be talking about using Jenkins to automate the big data infrastructure behind some of the largest websites and mobile applications in the Nordic region (June 19, 2:00 PM - 2:45 PM).

Users interested in the Mobile tracks can join the following sessions:

  • David Dang, vice president of automation solutions, Zenergy, will be covering a use case of mobile automation to proactively drive mobile website and application testing activities with Jenkins (June 18, 10:30 AM - 11:15 AM).
  • Yoram Mizrachi, CTO and founder, and Uzi Ellon, director of technology, Perfecto Mobile (News - Alert), will explore the challenges of building automated tests and how to extend build automation to include functional and non-functional testing (June 18, 11:30 AM - 12:15 PM).

In addition to these sessions, JUC East will be kicked off with an opening keynote by Kawaguchi highlighting recent developments and milestones within the Jenkins community. Kim, DevOps expert and author, will also give a keynote address on the value of DevOps.

Sponsors who are supporting the community via JUC sponsorship include: CloudBees, Perfecto Mobile, Pivotal, Xebia Labs, BlazeMeter, IBM, JFrog, Perforce, SOASTA, Sonatype, VMware, Black Duck Software (News - Alert), GerritForge, Keynote, Serena, MobileLabs, DLT Solutions, ElasticBox, Eliassen Group, Forest Technologies, DevOps.com, DZone and JAX London.
