Docker Launches New Ecosystem Technology Partner Program for Monitoring Distributed Applications

Docker, the organization behind the open platform for distributed applications, today announced its Ecosystem Technology Partner (ETP) program, an initiative recognizing companies that have demonstrated integration with the Docker platform. Docker's first initiative recognizes companies that have integrated their monitoring tools with the Docker Platform via its APIs. The first companies to integrate their monitoring tools with Docker include AppDynamics, Datadog, New Relic, Scout, SignalFx and Sysdig.

Distributed application architectures are different than apps in that there are faster cycles of change, ephemeral systems with bursts and scale variation and many components in constant movement. As a result, the requirements for monitoring distributed applications in production are different and require that organizations are able to see and infer the right signals in order to understand the behavior and performance of their application. Docker's monitoring partners have proven integration with the Docker platform and have demonstrated that their solution is able to monitor dockerized applications.

"With a shift in application architecture, the monitoring needs are changing to address the distributed nature of these applications," said Nick Stinemates, head of business development and technical alliances, Docker. "For operational teams to be comfortable with this shift, they need to know that Docker is providing the right kind of information and that there is an ecosystem of tools around it. Docker's Ecosystem Technology Partner program ensures that companies building monitoring tools integrate with the Docker platform to offer users and organizations the highest degree of visibility, availability and performance for distributed applications."

Future program initiatives will focus on other capability areas in the application lifecycle including logging, configuration management, networking and storage.
