American Correctional Solutions Files Suit Against County of San Diego Regarding Inmate X-rays

American Correctional Solutions, Inc. (ACS (News - Alert)), a correctional healthcare company, has filed suit in the Superior Court of the State of California, against the County of San Diego, alleging hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages.

ACS states that the company has performed, and continues to perform all of its obligations under the contract to provide radiology services at San Diego County's Central Jail, George F. Bailey Detention Facility, Vista Detention Facility, Las Colinas Detention Facility, and via a mobile X-ray vehicle. The dispute also states the County refuses to properly compensate ACS for these services pursuant to the contract, and is thus forcing ACS to continue providing services at a loss. "It's cost us greatly. We are a small business supporting hundreds of medical professionals, but the County has asked us to continue to lose money every month, and that is not something we can sustain," said Barry Goldstin, President of ACS.

After attempting to resolve this issue numerous times, ACS has asked the County not to exercise their option to renew clause, but the County of San Diego has instead continued to extend. The County of San Diego is the funding source for the contracted programs.

American Correctional Solutions provides on-site clinics and highly advanced medical services, to ensure a patient's healthcare needs are met by precisely the right team, providing a continuum of care. ACS's professional medical staff is working in California, Oregon, and Nebraska, in state prisons, county jails, developmental hospitals, youth facilities and other institutions where affordable medical services are needed.
