IEEE Hosting 'Cybersecurity and Privacy in a World of Data Driven Innovation' Workshop at World Summit on the Information Society Forum 2015IEEE (News - Alert), the world's largest professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for humanity, today announced that it will facilitate a workshop on "Cybersecurity and Privacy in a World of Data Driven Innovation" during the World Summit on the Information Society Forum 2015 (WSIS Forum 2015). The WSIS Forum 2015, which is scheduled to take place 25-29 May 2015 in Geneva, Switzerland, is considered "the world's largest annual gathering of the ICT (information and communications technologies) for development community." The IEEE thematic workshop at WSIS Forum 2015 will discuss the balance of security and privacy rights in an age in which global citizens are converging on the Internet, and new media, technology and services are pervading and influencing culture. Panelists are to include Pierre Bonis, deputy chief executive officer, AFNIC; Dr. J. Roberto de Marca, 2014 IEEE president; Dr. Chaesub Lee, director of the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau, International Telecommunication Union (ITU); Audrey Plonk, director, international security and Internet governance policy, Intel (News - Alert); Dr. Greg Shannon, chief scientist for the CERT® Division at Carnegie Mellon University's Software Engineering Institute and chair of the IEEE Cybersecurity Initiative (http://cybersecurity.ieee.org/), and Robin Wilton, technical outreach director, identity and privacy, Internet Society.
