CTC Announces Highlights from Midwest Autodesk User ConferenceCTC's (News - Alert) annually hosted event, Midwest University (midwest-u.com), was held on March 26-27, 2015. This year's event included 450 attendees, 75 classes, 62 instructors and 17 exhibitors making it the largest event for Autodesk (News - Alert) users in the Midwest region. Midwest University is an educational conference that has continued to grow over the past three years and has a healthy momentum for future growth. Classes and general sessions presented emerging solutions such as BIM data management, collaborative workflows, Autodesk 360 applications, 3D printing, laser scanning, reality capture and cloud applications. Kim Renshaw, Director of North America Channel Sales at Autodesk, gave the keynote address focusing on how Autodesk is changing the delivery method of technology to adapt with the changing consumer culture. "The delivery method has changed," as Kim showed her personal example of the GPS features she now uses on her smart phone rather than the GPS features that came with her car. She continued to build the main point saying, "I want immediate information now at my fingertips so that I can be the most effective and efficient. It's not always just a change in technology, but how you access the technology that makes you more efficient." Chief Editor of AECbytes, Lachmi Khemlani, PhD, participated in the event as an attendee as well as a discussion panelist. In her published review of the event, she said, "I found that its smaller size, compared to other industry events like Autodesk University, made it more conducive to learning and networking, and I see it as especially invaluable to thos who are located in the Midwestern region of the US."
