Bandwidth to Co-Host Global Hackathon to Build the Next Great Communications Technology

Bandwidth, one of the nation's fastest-growing communications companies, today announced a partnership with TADHack to host a two-day developer hackathon to build the next great advancement in communications technology.

TADHack Raleigh will take place on June 13-14, at Bandwidth's (News - Alert) Raleigh headquarters. As part of the TADHack Telecom Application Developer Hackathon, the Raleigh event will be co-located with a series of eveloper events taking place simultaneously around the world, in cities such as Chicago, London, Dublin, Madrid, New Delhi and Melbourne.

TADHack marks the only global meeting of developers to learn, share, code and create using the tools and technologies available in telecommunications. Teams will compete to showcase their ideas around voice and messaging into consumer applications, business processes and IoT devices. The winning prizes include a total of $35,000 in global cash, along with local awards that include a $1,000 team prize, Apple (News - Alert) Watch, Oculus Rift Development Kit and drones.

Participants will also have exclusive access to development platforms used by leading applications for voice calling, WebRTC, Mobile VoIP for iOS and Android (News - Alert), SMS and MMS Messaging, E911, SIP and Dynamic Call Routing. Developers can also network and interact with Bandwidth's API developers and executives.

"At TADHack we strived to raise developers' awareness of the power telecommunications holds for applications, services and business processes," said Alan Quayle (News - Alert), founder of TADHack. "Bandwidth is one of the original Telecom API businesses, and is the telecom enabler behind billion dollar businesses. They have shown repeatedly what talented developers can accomplish using Telecom APIs and platforms. I'm very excited at what will be created in TADHack Raleigh; it's going to be amazing."

"We believe that disrupting a market is all about collaboration and competition," said Steve Leonard, EVP and General Manager at Bandwidth. "We want to empower our community of talented developers in the area to think big about communications. There are few fields where the pace of change is so fast, and the improvements impact so many lives. We're looking forward to seeing how our local talent competes on a global scale."

To participate in the event, a free registration is available through the TADHack Global event page, selecting "Raleigh" as the event location. Teams can consist of 1-5 hackers. More details can be found on the Raleigh event website.
