Joanna Tsai Returns to Charles River Associates (CRA) As Vice President in the Antitrust & Competition Economics Practice


Charles River Associates (NASDAQ: CRAI), a worldwide leader in providing economic, financial, and management consulting services, today announced that Joanna Tsai has returned to the firm as a vice president in the Antitrust & Competition Economics Practice in Washington, DC. Most recently, she was economic advisor to Commissioner Joshua D. Wright at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC (News - Alert)).

"Her regulatory experience, stellar technical skills, and background in both private practice and government make her a great addition to our antitrust and competition economics team."

Dr. Tsai has extensive experience in industrial organization, intellectual property, and law and economics. While at the Federal Trade Commissio from 2013 to 2015, she advised Commissioner Wright on competition, intellectual property, and consumer protection issues. Her other governmental experience includes as Director, Office of Strategic Planning and Economic Analysis, with the Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company in San Juan, Puerto Rico.



In addition, Dr. Tsai has more than 10 years of experience in antitrust, intellectual property, and regulatory matters across various industries. Since 2012, she has been a Vice Chair of the Economics Committee of the American Bar Association's Section of Antitrust Law. She has written about reverse payment settlements; standard setting, intellectual property, and antitrust; and merger remedies in China, for such publications as Antitrust Magazine, Antitrust Law Journal, and CPI Antitrust Chronicle. Dr. Tsai has also served as faculty at Stanford University's Hoover IP Squared Summer Institute, and visiting professor at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law.

Her prior consulting experience includes as a principal in the Antitrust & Competition Economics Practice at Charles River Associates and as a vice president with Compass (News - Alert) Lexecon. She holds PhD and MA degrees in Economics from Cornell University, and a BA degree in Economics from the University of California, Irvine.
