Dr. Harold Agbahiwe Joins Virginia Cancer Specialists


Virginia Cancer Specialists (VCS), Virginia's premier cancer care center with 40 years of service to patients battling cancer and blood diseases, has added a new radiation oncologist to the practice. Harold Agbahiwe, M.D., joined VCS in March. The addition of Dr. Agbahiwe, who has experience using the most up-to-date radiation treatment techniques in the treatment of a variety of cancers, allows the practice to better care for more patients throughout Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Dr. Agbahiwe received his undergraduate education at Princeton University and earned his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine. After an internship and residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, he went on to complete a residency in radiation oncology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. During his time there, his research was presented at both national and international conferences, and he was the recipient of several awards, including the RSNA Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award, a Young Investigator Award from the Johns Hopkins Department of Radiation Oncology, and a HDR (News - Alert) Brachytherapy Fellowship from the American Brachytherapy Society. He is board certified in radiation oncology and internal medicine.

"The radiation center in Fairfax opened in 2012, and under the esteemed direction of Dr. Sibley, has continued to grow and expand. Dr. Agbahiwe's extensive training and experience in radiation oncology will complement the practice's world-class care team. Dr. Agbahiwe joins Virginia Cancer Specialists after serving on faculty at the Johns Hopkins Department of Radiation Oncology at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C. He holds memberships in multiple medical organizations, including the American Society for Radiation Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He has authored several peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. Dr. Agbahiwe is proficient in French.
