InfoSystems Enables Nationally-Known Tourist Attraction Ruby Falls to Improve Connectivity and Communications for Staff and Guests

InfoSystems, an award-winning technology solutions provider, teamed up with Chattanooga's EPB to provide popular tourist destination, Ruby Falls, with wireless internet access 1,100 feet deep in the cave.

Improvements for the cave at Ruby Falls include a unified communications system between the surface and the depths of the cave, as well as providing wireless Internet access for guests at various integrated hotspots throughout. The IT solution was created utilizing technology via Mitel, Ruckus Wireless (News - Alert) and Hewlett-Packard (HP).

"We are excited to be a part of this solution for Ruby Falls," said Clay Hales, InfoSystems President and CEO. "The improvements in efficiency for the staff at the cave - who now have multiple back-up methods of communicating to the folks topside - are just remarkable, and the innovative experience for guests to stay connected while 1,100 feet underground is just phenomenal."

"In today's world communication is vital," said Hugh Morrow, president of Ruby Falls. "So it has been great partnering with supporters like InfoSystems, HP and EPB to provide our guests the technology for making their visit even more enriching without detracting from our unique natural attraction. No one would have thought more than 85 years ago that we could connect with the world from over 1100 feet deep within Lookout Mountain."

"This has been a milestone for all parties included - us, EPB, and Ruby Falls - as far as we are aware, a cave has not been wired for wireless Internet 1,100 feet deep," said Hales.
