EXPERT ALERTS:

Apple Watch Online Strategy Makes Sense
P.K. Kannan
Marketing Professor
University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business
"If a retail store does not carry the right mix of an assorted product line, many customers may be disappointed, and an out-of-stock situation can never be good for a new product launch. Apple wants to avoid this with its Apple Watch. The company's in-store demo of the watches has given customers the 'touch and feel' of the products. Now, by selling the watches online, they are giving their customers options to choose a model, customize it and get it home-delivered. By launching online, Apple also can gauge the demand and popularity of the different models of the watch and variations in customization and thus plan their production accordingly. This also will help them plan the right inventory at retail stores."

The Clinton Foundation and Future of Charities
Leslie Lenkowsky
Professor of Practice in Public Affairs and Philanthropy
Indiana University School of Public & Environmental Affairs
In light of the recent Clinton Foundation allegations, Lenkowsky says: "I am less concerned about the effects of all this on Hillary's presidential campaign and more about how they create a misleading and, maybe, disreputable image of charities. This has been a problem with the Clinton Foundation – and celebrity philanthropy more generally – all along. Also, in my opinion, while there's a great deal of smoke around the foundtion now, it is not clear there's a smoking gun. Some media might have suggested a quid pro quo, but some of the stories do not include proven allegations, and alternative explanations sound implausible. In addition, the fact that the Clintons pocketed speaking fees and sponsors and contributed to the foundation is not the issue here; that's not uncommon in the nonprofit world."

Business Coaching a Hot Trend in 2015
Susan P. Ascher
Founder, President and CEO
The Ascher Group
"People invest thousands of dollars in coaches for their kids' sports, personal fitness and the like. They need to do the same for their employees. The key to productivity and profitability lies in leadership and communication within the five generations in the workplace and in everyday life. Every organization, large or small, struggles with the same issues. More importantly, coaches are getting results."
Ascher is the author of "Dude, Seriously, Get Your ASK in Gear!" (2014), about what leaders need to ask themselves to succeed and stay relevant in the Digital Age; and "Dude, Seriously, It's NOT All About You! (2011), about protocol and communications in the 24/7 nanosecond New Millennium. She can offer context and commentary on the results of the International Coaching Federation's global study on coaching (see http://www.coachfederation.org/find-a-coach/benefits-of-coaching/).
A sought-after national media resource, Ascher has been interviewed on Bloomberg, ABC, NBC, CNBC, News 12 NJ, News 12 NY and My9TV, and is a frequent commentator on TV 8 in Vail, Colo. She presents workshops at universities throughout the country, such as Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.; Colorado Mountain College in Edwards, Colo.; William Paterson University in Wayne, N.J.; and Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, N.J. She has been published in Forbes magazine, Crain's New York Business, The Star-Ledger, NJBIZ and New Jersey & Company magazine.
