Tech Sector Leaders Join Unitive Advisory Board

WOODSIDE, Calif., April 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Technology sector leaders Mark Lange, Meg Bear, Patty Murray, and Sally Thornton will bring a combination of legal, human resources, and marketing expertise to the advisory board of Unitive, the revolutionary team-building solution that eliminates unconscious bias from the hiring process, the company announced today.

Unitive is a technology solution for full talent activation, helping corporations build diverse, innovative, productive teams. Unitive goes beyond training and reinforces behavioral change in real-time. Unitive transforms theoretical ideas about unconscious bias into pragmatic solutions that build stronger teams.

"At Unitive, we are building a company that uses technology to address vexing social issues like unconscious bias, that hold back women, individuals of color, and other underrepresented groups," said Laura Mather, PhD, Unitive's founder and inventor of the patent-pending technology that flags, curbs and addresses bias as it's happening. "We are building the dream team of cross-sector leaders in diversity and human resources from business, academia, and social activism and Mark Lange, Meg Bear, Patty Murray, and Sally Thornton are at the top of the list."

Unitive, to be launched in the second quarter of 2015, helps companies address unconscious bias during the critical processes of hiring and promotion. Across an enterprise, Unitive disrupts behaviors caused by bias, educates employees in real-time about behaviors that unintentionally narrow the candidate pool and tracks biased behaviors resulting in the ultimate goal: diverse, innovative teams.

Mark Lange has founded three SaaS ventures and brings to Unitive an amazing combination of early-stage and enterprise-class technology marketing and sales leadership experience. Of particular value is his work in the human resources software space through his times at HireSystems, BrassRing (acquired by Kenexa) and PeopleSoft (acquired by Oracle), combined with the financial background to develop and assess new business models, secure funding, and help deliver outstanding M&A outcomes.

In support of the larger context in which business operates, Mr. Lange's columns on business, workforce policy, health care and job creation have run in the New York Times, the International Herald Tribune, and the Christian Science Monitor, where his work was awarded "Best Series" by the National Association of Opinion Page Editors and entered for a Pulitzer Prize.

Meg Bear is currently the General Manager of the Social Cloud of Oracle. Prior to that role she was vice President of Talent Management products for Oracle and Senior Director of Development at PeopleSoft (acquired by Oracle) where she gained a broad understanding of developing human resources software. She is a recognized industry thought leader in both talent management and customer experience and an advocate for women in STEM. She is passionate about applying technology to solve business problems, building and growing teams to be their best and defining products to invest in that will make money, while solving real customer need.

Patty Murray served as Senior Vice President at Intel Corporation and was the Director of Human Resources Division from 1996 to 2012. She brings to Unitive a deep knowledge of how Fortune 100 organizations like Intel hire, develop and retain the best and brightest employees in the industry globally. She was also responsible for providing world-class technology-based support and service to Intel's 100,000 employees worldwide. Prior to Intel, Ms. Murray was an attorney at the law firm of Morrison and Foerster in Palo Alto, Calif., where she specialized in employment litigation and counseling.

Sally Thornton is Founder and Chief Curator at Forshay, a new kind of talent acquisition firm. In addition, Sally is on the Advisory Council for Stanford University's Clayman Institute for Gender Research. Sally's unique perspective of sourcing talent for some of the largest and most progressive organizations, in combination with her work on gender research, makes her ideally suited to guide Unitive in its mission to disrupt bias with technology.

Unitive was founded by Laura Mather, PhD, a successful entrepreneur on a determined journey to build a technology solution to address bias in the workplace. Building on an exhaustive examination of academic research on decision-making associated with women, individuals of color, and other underrepresented groups, linguistics and current best practices in human resource science, Dr. Mather is set to launch the first technology solution to flag, map and sidestep unconscious bias in the moment it is happening.
