Faster Internet Speeds Now Available for Cox Customers in New England
WEST WARWICK, R.I., April 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Communications today announced that it has increased maximum download and upload speeds on two packages of Internet service. Download speeds on Cox High Speed Internet Essential have increased from 5 megabits per second (Mbps) to 15Mbps. At this speed, a typical music album can be downloaded in less than a minute. Internet Starter is now five times faster, having increased from 1Mbps per second to 5Mbps. The new speeds automatically went into effect in February. Cox currently offers speeds as fast as 150Mbps in Rhode Island and Connecticut, with plans to increase that package's speeds later this year. "Cox has now increased Internet speeds for eleven consecutive years as a result of our investment in our network and commitment to offer access and choice to our customers," said Jay Allbaugh, senior vice president and region manager, Cox Communications. "We know this is especially important in today's world where more and more devices are connected in each home our New England markets." These speed increases comeon the heels of the company doubling speeds on its two most popular Internet packages late last year, as Internet Preferred increased to 50Mbps and Internet Premier to 100Mbps. Cox has also announced that gigabit (1,000Mbps) speeds will be in all markets by the end of 2016. Customers interested in experiencing the new Internet speeds available should visit www.cox.com/highspeedinternet or a local Cox Solutions Store to test speeds for themselves.
