CTRL+Console Raises $261,000 in Seed Funding

CTRL+Console is an innovative application that turns the iPad into an intuitive, touchscreen remote for many programs, including Adobe (News - Alert) Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro. Today, the company announced it has raised $261,000, led by Foundry Group and the FG Angel AngelList Syndicate. This raise allows CTRL+Console to develop additional interfaces that simplify the creative process and help create a more collaborative creative experience. The company began with video editing, garnering 5,200 editors in 79 countries and now plans to expand into photography, 3D modeling, audio design, and more.

To date, creative software has largely been designed around the keyboard and relies heavily on hundreds of keyboard shortcuts to improve speed of use. The development of touchscreens has ushered in a new era of interfaces that are so intuitive even toddlers can use them. CTRL+Console is embracing this technology to change the way creatives use computers by introducing a beautifully designed app that incorporates a cutting-edge Gesture Control System allowing faster editing without taking your eyes off your work.

"Human computer interfaces are one of our themes at Foundry Goup," said Ryan McIntyre, co-founder and managing director. "As a musician and recording engineer, I could immediately see the applications for audio mixing, but after meeting with Jud and Jeff, I realized this has the potential to greatly impact the entire creative field and beyond. One coffee date and we were in."

Foundry Group, Jud Valeski and the FG Angels Syndicate contributed a total of $261,000 raised in just three weeks.

"We've been really pleased with the reception creatives of all sorts have given CTRL+Console and to have investors give that same love has been a great vote of confidence," said Jeff Chow, co-founder. "But ultimately, this is about building tools that allow people to do things they couldn't do before, whether that's saving time, improving ergonomics, adding mobility, or increasing joy in the creative process. The support of our investors will allow us to continue to build the tools that do just that."

In addition to the support of investors, CTRL+Console works closely with its advisory board made up of Jud Valeski, founder of social data technology provider, Gnip (recently acquired by Twitter (News - Alert)); Brad Shell, founder of 3D drafting tool, SketchUp (acquired by Google); and serial entrepreneur Jonathan Beninson. These advisors bring a wealth of experience to the CTRL+Console team.

About CTRL+Console

CTRL+Console was founded in Boulder, Colorado in 2012 and funded by 888 backers on Kickstarter with the mission to enable a whole new generation to unleash their creativity. Press and accolades include a feature in Mashable and an invitation to demo from Adobe's booth throughout NAB 2013. CTRL+Console is the brainchild of Jeff Chow, a professional photographer and technologist who found himself facing the same challenge that many creatives around the world face everyday - the desire to make art, but held back by the difficulty of software. CTRL+Console is designed to solve that.
