Kroll Bond Rating Agency Assigns BBB/K3 Senior Long-Term Debt and Short-Term Ratings to Financial Institutions, Inc.


Kroll Bond Rating Agency (KBRA) has assigned a senior unsecured long-term rating of BBB, subordinated rating of BBB-, and short-term debt rating of K3 to Financial Institutions, Inc. (NASDAQ: FISI), a bank holding company headquartered in Warsaw, New York. In addition, KBRA has assigned a senior deposit rating of BBB+ and short-term rating of K2 to the subsidiary bank, Five Star Bank ("the Bank"). The outlook on all ratings is stable.

The ratings are supported by FISI's financial fundamentals as indicated by soud asset quality, adequate liquidity, and consistent earnings as well as an experienced management team. The ratings also reflect FISI's relatively low capital ratios, increasing indirect auto net charge-offs, and compact geographic footprint.
