This year, Northrop Grumman's Stuart Linsky, vice president, Space Systems Communication Programs, received the Jack Northrop Spirit of Innovation Award, which honors individual technical contributions that inspire innovation and advance the progress of the aerospace industry. Northrop Grumman mechanical engineer Ling Wu was honored with the William B. Johnson International Inter-Professional Founders Award, which recognizes professionals who embody the leadership and dedication to the engineering community of Bill Johnson, a founding member of The Engineers' Council. The company's X-47B Unmanned Combat Air System (UCAS) was named Project of the Year for successfully demonstrating the first-eve launch and recovery of an unmanned aircraft from a carrier at sea and for paving the way for the Navy's future carrier-based unmanned system capability.
