Xceedium, Inc. Secures Fourth Essential Patent for Privileged Identity Management

Xceedium®, Inc., the premier provider of privileged identity management for hybrid enterprises, today announced it has been awarded a fourth essential patent devoted to privileged identity management technologies. U.S. Patent 8,831,011 provides for the passing of credentials into a network, authorizing a user or group of users to a remote target device or application, while simultaneously recording and auditing the session. Once users have been authenticated into the network through the multi-factor single-sign-on client, they can securely access other pre-approved systems without retaining credentials that can be compromised or exploited. Meanwhile, policy administrators can easily change access parameters without specifically having privileged credentials attached to their own accounts.

Xceedium's proprietary technology enables organizations to manage, control, regulate, and audit privileged and administrator user credentials which, if not properly protected, pose significant risk to network and information systems. With the increasing prevalence of high-profile security breaches resulting from exploited user credentials, identity has become the new security perimeter. Privileged identity management has become critical to business operations and essential to ensuring the security of traditional data center resources, software-defined data centers and networks, and IaaS/SaaS (News - Alert) cloud-based environments.

"Historically, enhancing an enterprise's security posture has often come at the cost of diminishd productivity. The technology at the heart of the '011 patent defies that trend, enhancing an organization's information and network security, while also making day-to-day tasks more efficient for network and systems administrators," said John Suit, Chief Technology Officer at Xceedium. "This patent protects techniques that permit privileged users seamless access to the information and networks necessary to carry out their jobs, secure credentials from inadvertent exposure, and allow policy administrators to supervise sessions for improved operational transparency and increased security," added Suit.

Xceedium's Xsuite®, which has utilized this newly patented technology from its inception, monitors, controls access, and audits activities of all privileged users enterprise-wide. The platform simplifies login by allowing users to utilize a single-sign-on, in combination with PIV/CAC or other multi-factor authentication technologies, while also verifying users through enterprise directories such as AD/LDAP, Radius, and others. Built on a zero-trust model, Xsuite protects management consoles, determines role-based access, vaults and manages privileged credentials, enforces strong authentication, eliminates stored application-to-application passwords, reduces administrative overhead, and is highly scalable in elastic cloud-environments.
