Sterling Global Operations first U.S. company to achieve worldwide PSC.1 certification

LENOIR CITY, Tenn., March 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Sterling Global Operations  (SGO) has become the first American company to earn worldwide certification under ANSI/ASIS PSC.1-2012, an international standard designed specifically for private security company quality management systems.

Jeremy Duncan, Sterling Global Operations (SGO) vice president of operations, and Alan Weakley, SGO president and chief operating officer, receive from Tony Phipps, director of United Kingdom-based MSS Global, SGO's designation as the first American company to receive worldwide certification under ANSI/ASIS PSC.1-2012, an international standard designed specifically for private security company quality management systems.

SGO, a stability operations company, numbers among its services demining;  munitions response; logistics; communications; life suport services; risk management; and security for governmental and private customers worldwide.

United Kingdom-based MSS Global is the international certification body accredited through the United Kingdom Accreditation Service to certify companies to meet international accreditation standards. MSS Global conducted an intensive multi-stage audit of SGO at several of its operations around the world for the ANSI/ASIS PSC.1-2012 certification.

"This assures SGO's clients that the company has been through a rigorous audit process by an external third party and meets the high standards of PSC.1 certification," said Alan Weakley, SGO president and chief operating officer.

The audit process involved a thorough examination of documentation and procedures at SGO's headquarters, followed by a review of the company's activities in the field.

Weakley said being the first American company to achieve PSC.1 certification, with the global scope, is special to everyone at the company for two reasons.

"First, because it makes a statement to existing and future clients about the benefits they derive from working with us and gives them assurance that we operate to high standards," he said.

"The second reason is that achieving certification is demanding. It tested us. Being challenged and accomplishing difficult goals is how a person, or a company, proves its determination to be the best at what they do."

PSC.1 certification rounds out SGO's integrated business management system which also includes certifications for ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System, ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System, BS OHSAS 18001:2007 Safety Management System.

Sterling Global Operations is an employee-owned stability operations company employing approximately 5,000 professionals worldwide. The company serves customers with munitions response; intelligence support; logistics; risk management and other services in some of the world's most austere and hostile environments.
