Talend Launches New Passport for MDM Success

Talend, the global big data integration software leader, has launched a new consulting services package, Passport for Master Data Management (MDM) Success, which provides detailed guidance to companies during the critical planning phase of an MDM implementation.

"While all companies want the single, comprehensive view of their customers that MDM can provide, most struggle to find early success," said Jean-Michel Franco, product marketing director, Talend. "Based on years of experience in the field, we've learned that companies not only require the right tools, but also the right approach to ensure IT execution is tightly aligned with the data expectations of business users."

The services package will be delivered over a short period of time, typically from four to six weeks based on project specifications. For Talend customers, the services help establish the foundation needed to ensure MDM projects are delivered on time, within budget and address the needs of the lines of business. The launch of the Talend Passport for MDM Success comes as Talend's MDM solution busines is experiencing rapid growth, increasing by 86 percent in 2014.

Based on industry best practices, the key goals of the services are to:

  • Assess organizational maturity for engaging in an MDM program and set up a plan to meet implementation prerequisites;
  • Define and refine the MDM business case or cases and prepare IT teams to promote them to the lines of business; and
  • Develop a project roadmap and get ready to begin successful execution.

Talend joined forces with a number of large consulting partners for delivery of the new services. Initial alliance members include Bearing Point, Cap Gemini, CGI (News - Alert), CSC, IPL, McKnight Consulting Group, Micropole, Sopra Steria and Virtusa. These partners have been selected based on proven track records in MDM consulting and experience successfully delivering Talend MDM projects.

"Companies are rapidly realizing that competitive success or failure has a lot to do with how well they can leverage the growing amount of data available to them," said Kumar Ramamurthy, vice president and Global Head, EIM Practice, Virtusa. "If you want to be customer centric, drive a business advantage and comply with all the latest regulations, MDM is a must. That's also the reason why Talend's New Passport for Business Success is such an important initiative and why we have chosen to get involved in delivering it to businesses."

According to Gartner (News - Alert), the scope and complexity of MDM programs, coupled with the high level of cooperation needed between IT and business, necessitate organizations to seek assistance from external service provider (ESP) firms to devise a sound MDM strategy and (or) implementation plan for their MDM initiatives.
