Save Mart & Lucky Launch App Integrating Retail Rewards with the Next Generation Grocery Shopping Experience

Shopping for groceries at Lucky and Save Mart will be unlike any other experience in California as the company announced today the launch of a game-changing rewards program driven by an integrated smartphone platform (app) targeted to fit right into the busy lifestyle of today's shopper. Named appropriately for each banner, Save Mart shoppers can start using the "Save Smart" program starting today at stores throughout Sacramento, the Central Valley and Reno. "Lucky You" will launch in Bay Area Lucky stores on March 18.

"Our new rewards program is distinctive and unique," said Nicole Pesco, Co-President and Chief Strategy and Branding Officer. "This comprehensive platform establishes a shopping profile for each member-providing them a fully integrated space to plan meals by browsing our online recipe database, creating shopping lists, clipping electronic coupons and viewing the weekly ad-simplifying the shopping experience when they arrive at the store. Plus, members of the new "Save Smart" and "Lucky You" programs will accrue airline-style points that can be redeemed for a variety of in-store rewards."

In celebration of the new rewards program, the company will donate $1.00 per new member registration to local schools during the first 48 hours-up to $25,000. Save Mart SHARES schools are eligible to receive this gift.

To sign-up for "Save Smart" or "Lucky You," shoppers can go to their local store; download the 'Save Mart' or 'Lucky Supermarkets' app through the Apple Store or Google (News - Alert) Play; or sign-up and manage their profiles online at www.SaveMart.com or www.LuckySupermarkets.com.

The "Lucky You" and "Save Smart" rewards program offers three key benefits, all customized for the shopper:

  • Savings: E-coupons and rewards are all available at the shopper's fingertips. Rewards and coupons are selected in the app or online and moved into a shopper's account and redeemed automatically at checkout when the items purchased match a reward, promotion or coupon in their account. Points are accrued post-purchase and allow shoppers to choose their rewards from a variety of offers. For example-need bananas this week? Just click. Or, save your points up for cash off your next purchase.
  • Easy Meal-Planning Solutions: The app features a proprietary database of thousands of recipes that will satisfy a family of four or the most ardent foodie. Meal ingredients can be instantly added to the shopping list. Recipes can also be selected from health-oriented menu plans or simply to indulge in one's craving for pot roast.
  • Convenience: The fact of the matter is: a mom's smartphone is the nerve center for everything that has to get done. The rewards program app allows moms to continuously update her shopping list throughout the day-and, in her downtime (standing in line or waiting for a pick-up) she can clip coupons or redeem her points for in-store offers before she heads to the store.

Weekly advertised prices remain available to all Lucky and Save Mart shoppers, even if they choose not to participate in the rewards program. Shoppers may choose to identify themselves with a card or their phone number. This will allow rewards, coupons and other offers to be accessed at checkout. Accrued point balances will appear at the bottom of the shopper's receipt after checkout.
