Numecent Hires Former Broadcom EVP Tom Lagatta as CEO

IRVINE, Calif., March 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Cloudpaging leader Numecent® today announced that former Executive Vice President of Broadcom Tom Lagatta has joined the company as President and CEO. He will be working closely with Numecent's co-founder and previous CEO Osman Kent, who is newly promoted to the Executive Chairman position.

Prior to Numecent, Tom Lagatta held various senior management roles at Broadcom, most recently as Executive VP of Worldwide Sales where he was responsible for managing $8B in annual sales. Broadcom is a Fortune® 500 global leader in semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communications.

"I believe in the power of 2 to manage exponential growth in technology start-ups," said Osman Kent, Executive Chairman of Numecent. "Behind the scenes, Tom and I have been working together during most of 2014 and I know firsthand that he brings exceptional operational and growth experience. His broad industry knowledge will be instrumental in taking Numecent to the next level. This is especially pertinent as we expand into OEM, mobile and IoT applications with our groundbreaking cloudpaging technology. I therefore had no hesitations recommending him as our next CEO."

Tom will focus on scaling the operations and geographical expansion of the company, including worldwide sales and marketing, business processes and execution while Osman will focus on the technology direction and strategic partners, initiatives and investors.

"When I began consulting for Numecent in 2014, I saw a great technology platform, a solid engineering team and an unbounded opportunity landscape for the company," said Tom Lagatta, the incoming CEO. "Numecent not only has a rapidly growing number of tier-1 customers, but it has achieved monotonic triple-digit revenue growth since they came out of stealth - which they did quietly and with an amazingly small team. Strong positive reactions from customers nd prospects to our demos and roadmap convinced me that this is the company I wanted to dedicate myself to. With my background and contacts I believe I can help build the world-class organization Numecent needs to continue its strong growth trajectory."

Numecent's award-winning and patented cloudpaging platform excels in Web-scale delivery of any Microsoft® Windows® application to virtual or physical desktops through virtualization and containerization and without streaming any pixels.

The application is first 'cloudified' and abstracted in a pre-virtualized form (together with its dependencies) inside a secure and license-controlled container. The container is then demand-paged to the client platform over HTTPS from a central repository (in the cloud or on-premises) and executes inside a secure sandbox without actually requiring any installation. Cloudpaging solves all the application provisioning problems which typically plague physical or virtual desktops – be it from the cloud or on-premises.

Typically only 5% of the container needs to be delivered for the cloudified application to start doing useful work, allowing repositories and license and patch management to be centralized, even if the client devices are geographically distributed around the world. Numecent's cloudpaging platform has so far helped deliver over 20 million sessions and more than 10,000 cloudified applications (including major CAD/CAM, PLM, DCC and financial applications), to enterprises around the world.

Having originally established its presence on the PC, the company is now poised to deliver its cloudpaging technology for smartphones/tablets and for IoT.
