People Used Cord's Voice Messaging Service to Say "I Love You" on Valentine's Day

NEW YORK, Feb. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Cord Project Inc. is a New York based startup founded by former Googlers Thomas Gayno and Jeff Baxter. Its flagship product, Cord, is an incredibly simple, free voice messaging service available on Android, iPhones and iPads in 16 languages. Cord is inspired by the brevity and spontaneity of the text message, but thanks to the inherent power of voice, it offers richer and more personal communication.

Since its official release on December 16th, 2014 Cord has already reached hundreds of thousands of users. "Over sixty hours of voice are sent through our servers every day," said co-founder and CEO Thomas Gayno. "The US remains our first market but with 34% of our user base in Asia and 42% in Europe, we are heavily international."

On February 12th, Cord Project released a major update to its service right in time for Valentine's Day and undoubtedly a lot of heartfelt messages were sent through Cord on February 14th, since Cord saw a 40% increase in sent messages that day. "We believe in the power of voice," said co-founder and creative director Baxter, "and we designed Cord to be the perfect way to share a quick but meaningful message with your loved ones." Cord had already observed similar spikes of traffic around holidays such as Thanksgiving or the New Year's Eve, proving how much people use it to communicate with their friends and family.

Among the many updates and improvements launched last week, the ability to send group messages is certainly the most significant. This opens the door to private jokes between friends, awesome family updates, and productive conversations with a team.
