VGTI's Center for Diseases of Aging and Sweden's Karolinska Institutet to Host Scientific Symposium with Leading Medical Researchers


The Vaccine & Gene Therapy Institute of Florida (VGTI Florida), a leading, non-profit biomedical research institute, today announced its Center for Diseases of Aging ("CDA") will host its inaugural Scientific Symposium, Innovative Approaches to Diseases of Aging, on February 11-12, 2015.

Held at the Tradition Center for Innovation, the one and a half day event will feature presentations by medical scientists from VGTI Florida and Sweden's Karolinska Institutet, internationally known for annually awarding the Nobel (News - Alert) Prize in Physiology or Medicine. The CDA at VGTI Florida and Karolinska Institutet established this research collaboration last year to study diseases of aging.

The CDA's research teams will report on novel programs in development that target infectious disease, cancers and cardiovascular disease, as well as therapies designed to boost overall immunity and vitality in the aging and elderly.

Mayor Greg Oravec of Port St. Lucie, and Nancy Bryan, President & CEO of BioFlorida, are scheduled to make remarks at the CDA's Dedication Ceremony at an evening reception on February 11 with invited dignitaries and guests.
