Mintz Levin Further Bolsters IP Practice and West Coast Presence with Addition of Kenneth E. Jenkins


Continuing the expansion of its Intellectual Property Practice and life sciences capabilities, Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky & Popeo, P.C. announced that Kenneth E. Jenkins has joined the firm as a Member in San Diego. He comes to Mintz Levin (News - Alert) from Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton, where he served as Managing Partner of the San Diego office.

In recent months, Mintz Levin has added more than two dozen IP attorneys.

Mr. Jenkins, who holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry and Biochemistry, specializes in patent counseling and procurement in the health and life sciences sectors. His experience spans a wide array of technologies including pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, small molecule therapeutics, stem cell therapies, antibody therapeutics and petrochemical technologies.

Mr. Jenkins works closely with both corporations and research institutions to develop patent claiming and filing strategies; procure patents on cornerstone technologies; and strategically manage patent portfolios to maximize investments. He counsels lenders and investors in assessing the value of patent assets through due diligence reviews, including validity analyses, freedom to operate analyses and in-licensed technology investigations. He also provides strategic advice in high-stakes patent litigations involving challenges under the Hatch-Waxman Act.

Mr. Jenkins earned his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado. He also holds a J.D. from the University of California's Hastings College of Law and a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Texas. He has received numerous top honors, including the Royal Society of Chemistry's Young Investigator Award, and has been named a top patent attorney by several publications including Super Lawyers magazine, the San Diego Business Journal and IAM Patent 1000.
