Donations Accumulate for Malawi Disaster Relief Through Reelcause, Inc.

FORT LAUDERALE, Fla., Jan. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearly 200 people have died and thousands are displaced after a deadly flood swept through the southern portion of Malawi last week.

Gift of Givers, an African organization reported on Facebook that, "The Malawi Defence Force has already rescued more than 4,000 people with the fear that many more are trapped in inaccessible areas. Thus far 200,000 people have been displaced, 11,000 homes have been damaged and 173 people are confirmed dead. The death toll is expected to rise as it is believed that 183 people have been swept away from one village alone."

The global community is not optimistic that the devastation and death toll will decline, which is why the Joyce Banda Foundation International, The Jack Brewer Foundation and Friends for Good Health are hosting a disaster relief fundraising channel through crowdfunding phenomenon Reelcause, Inc.

The channel features a heart-wrenching video of the devastaion, taking the viewer into  Malawi's trenches to enlighten the world of their despair and urgent need for support/help.

"The situation in Malawi is dire but groups such as UNICEF, the Red Cross, and others are working hard to mobilize aid to the Southern region stricken by floods," explains Ambassador Jack Brewer, Founder and Executive Director of The Jack Brewer Foundation.

"The Jack Brewer Foundation in partnership with Reelcause, Friends for Good Health and Joyce Banda Foundation International, have raised over $100,000 in support of this tragedy which includes clothing, dry foods, blankets and medical supplies," Brewer adds.  "Our goal is to offer support to all Malawians, especially the women and children, displaced at this time."

Michael Jacobson, Reelcause's CEO is optimistic that assistance/donations  will be swift through the crowdfunding vehicle. "It is gratifying that Reelcause can lend its support to Dr. Banda's Foundation and The Jack Brewer Foundation, along with so many athletes, celebrities and supporters to the common cause of bringing relief to the displaced citizens of Malawi."
