Fingerprint Acquires Award-Winning Companies Cognitive Kid, Scribble Press


2014 was a fast-paced year at Fingerprint, creator of kids' one-of-a-kind mobile play-and-learn networks, with the company adding at least one new developer partnership every week.

Today, Fingerprint announces that it has acquired two award-winning kids' mobile education companies -- Cognitive Kid and Scribble Press -- the latest moves in a year-long growth plan that has seen the company triple its enterprise partnerships and expand its developer network pool to include content creators from 30 countries.

In welcoming Cognitive Kid and Scribble Press into the Fingerprint family of content, the company's total library grows to 800, a 10-fold increase over 2014, and adds a series of apps, games and e-books that have collectively won more than 50 parenting and education awards. These acquisitions are a step toward Fingerprint's mission to build a library of curated products that help parents and teachers make screen time smart time, no matter which product they choose.

"The market for apps and games targeted at kids is more than $3 billion and there are more children using mobile devices than ever before," explains Nancy MacIntyre, CEO of Fingerprint. Scribble Press' book-making digital product has been used in more than 35,000 classrooms by kids aged 6-12. Since its launch in 2011, kids have used Scribble Press to make more than 3 million digital books, inspiring a whole generation of writers and artists. With easy-to-use text, art, soundtracks and more, kids build their story resulting in a dramatic e-book that can be published online or be printed. The Ansel and Clair line of apps are the brainchild of Suma Raju, Cognitive Kid's Founder & CEO. The seven apps have won over 35 prestigious awards and featured in Apple (News - Alert) Stores across the country at the launch of the original iPad. Ansel and Clair teach kids everything from dinosaurs to history to math, using a thought provoking approach designed to answer not just the "what," but also the "why" and "how" for curious minds. "Fingerprint impressed me with their approach around distribution and commitment to continued development of our learning brand. I am excited to get Ansel and Clair into the hands of even more learners around the world," notes Suma Raju.

Fingerprint operates its own network, Fingerprint Play, as well as networks for Samsung (News - Alert) (KidsTimeTM) and Sylvan Learning (SylvanPlay). This quarter, Fingerprint launches with Day6 Sports Group, the world's first mobile sports network for kids, with a return of the Backyard Sports franchise. The company has also announced plans to build a network with the globally-recognized brand, Cricket Media, an award-winning educational media company. Additionally it's currently building Treehouse Play with Corus Entertainment, a preschool television network including brands such as Little Bear, Max & Ruby, Franklin and Babar.
