G2 Crowd publishes Winter 2015 rankings of the best conversion rate optimization tools

The Winter 2015 report is based on more than 180 reviews written by business professionals.

The Grid(SM), which is created from G2 Crowd's software review platform, factors in customer satisfaction reported by users and vendor market presence determined from social and public data to rank products.

Conversion rate optimization (CRO) is an umbrella term for the testing and visualization tools web analysts use to improve user experience and increase conversion rates. The standard optimization platform is designed for A/B testing, which allows users to easily deploy webpage variations to different visitor segments and report on their effectiveness. Some products in this category work across an entire website, while others focus entirely on the creation and testing of landing pages.

To qualify as a Leader, a product must receive a high customer satisfaction score and have substantial market presence. As CRO is a relatively new software space, none of the vendors featured in this report have gained the market presence to reach Leader status. High Performers have high customer satisfaction scores with a smaller market presence than Leaders. Marketizator, Monetate, Visual Website Optimizer, Unbounce, KISSmetrics and Optimizely were all named High Performers. Marketizator earned the highest overall customer satisfaction score.

Across all CO platforms, reviewers reported the product they use meets their requirements at an average rate of 86%, and on average reviewers said they were 87% likely to recommend the product they use.

Some highlights from the CRO reviews on G2 Crowd:

"What I like best is that Marketizator does more than just A/B test. Qualitative data is crucial, and the tool helps you gather this vital information. I also like the personalization aspect of the technology. Overall, [it] captures where the market is going, but still uses A/B testing as a backbone to validate results gathered by its other components."
- Justin Rondeau, Chief Evangelist at WhichTestWon

"We starting using Monetate for A/B testing, but quickly found ourselves using it for targeted content management. The ability to segment customers and have dynamic triggers based on user actions has proven very beneficial."
- Richard Preciado, Ecommerce Marketing Analyst at Orchard Brands

"[Visual Website Optimizer] is extremely easy to get started with. Once the tracking code is added, you can dive in immediately and create numerous tests. It's always great to have hard data when testing changes and making tweaks on the site. VWO does a solid job of presenting the end results in a clear, conclusive manner, so it's easy to take action based on facts."
- Daniel Gniazdo, Online Customer Engagement Specialist at Jabra

"Some of the best features of Unbounce include the ability to quickly and easily [set up] a new [landing page] and test [campaigns]. While there are some aspects that require a bit of coding knowledge, the ability to add HTML sections, as well as custom CSS and JavaScript make Unbounce ideal for beginners as well as development savvy marketers."
- Michael Stickney, Owner and Design Director at Spitshine Design, LLC

"If you're running an e-commerce business, KISSmetrics's funnel reports are essential to monitor and optimize your funnels to figure out which steps users are leaking from. KISSmetrics makes it easy to generate reports as well as to keep them organized."
- Jeffrey Lai, Analytics at Proper Cloth

"The breadth of items that can be changed or updated [with Optimizely] is truly staggering. If your team is skilled with HTML (or you have in house developers that can play with javascript for the more heavy duty jobs), there is little you can't change. They also have some fantastic support staff to answer questions."
- Matt Schenk, Director of Digital Marketing at Native Remedies

Of the more than 30 software vendors listed in G2 Crowd's optimization category, the nine ranked products each received 10 or more reviews to qualify for inclusion on the Grid(SM).

Satisfaction rankings are generated from the user reviews, and market presence is calculated from vendor size, market share, and social impact. Based on a combination of these scores, each software solution is categorized as a Leader, High Performer, Contender, or Niche.

Premium research access can be purchased on the site for $599.
