Samsung Showcases Collaborative Learning Solutions and Hosts Innovation Sessions for Educators at FETC 2015

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. is highlighting its comprehensive suite of solutions for collaborative teaching and learning, and helping educators create dynamic classroom environments through informative sessions at FETC 2015 this week in the Orange (News - Alert) County Convention Center, booth #121. Showcasing Samsung's portfolio of Galaxy tablets, smartphones and wearables, along with Chromebooks for one-to-one learning programs and fully-integrated solutions like Samsung School, attendees can learn about new ways to transform their classrooms with technology.

"Samsung classroom technology is designed to address the needs of today's learners by empowering educators with the tools they need to create a collaborative learning environment," said Ted Brodheim, vice president of vertical business at Samsung Electronics America. "We're committed to powering education with technology solutions that engage students, are easy-to-use for teachers, scalable for IT managers and cost-efficient for the entire school district. Our sessions at FETC are designed to help educators improve their classroom capabilities using best practices to improve student outcomes."

Educators are invited to join the Samsung Learning Innovation Sessions on Thursday and Friday in booth #121 at FETC 2015. Sessions are designed for teachers, administrators and IT managers, and address topics such as managing the 21st century classroom, making learning personal with one-to-one programs and designing curricula to align with in-class devices. Sessions will be hosted by solution providers including Pearson Education, Eduscape Learning, BrainPOP and STEM Fuse.

Desert Sands Unified School District, located in California's Coachella Valley, will host a special session detailing how the district successfully deployed more than 21,000 Samsung Chromebooks to implement a one-to-one learning program and administer online assessments. Desert Sands sought to provide equal computing access across its diverse socioeconomic student body and selected Samsung Chromebooks to provide 5th-12th grade students with a personal learning device. With the technology in place, performance has improved year-over-year, with low-income students performing at the same achievement levels as higher income students.

"We believe the best way to close the achievement gap is by closing the digital gap, and a one-to-one learning initiative was the best solution for our diverse student enrollment," said Gary Rutherford, superintendent of Desert Sands Unified School District. "While we provided Samsung Chromebooks to older students, we also introduced technology to our early age students using tablets which are better suited for their developing motor skills, and interactive displays for greater classroom collaboration. Technology has truly transformed our district, resultig in better test scores, higher engagement levels and increased enthusiasm for learning."

The full line-up of Samsung's education products and solutions will be on display at FETC 2015 in booth #121 from Jan. 21-23, including the new Samsung Chromebook 2 with Intel Processor which debuted in the fall. Samsung has helped more than 8,500 U.S. schools move a step closer to one-to-one computing, with over 1.4 million Samsung Chromebooks in use by students. With its fast boot speed, long battery life and student-friendly design, the 11-inch Samsung Chromebook 2 with an Intel (News - Alert)® Celeron® (N2840) processor provides an ideal tool for classroom use.

Educators looking for tablet solutions can explore the Galaxy Tab 4 Education - the first Samsung tablet exclusively developed for K-12 schools. The Galaxy Tab 4 Education is classroom- and backpack-ready with a bundled protective case, Corning (News - Alert)® Gorilla® Glass and optional connected keyboard. Compatible with Google Play for Education, it also provides access to curated educational content searchable by grade, subject and common core standard. Watch this motion infographic to learn more.

Both the Samsung Chromebooks and Galaxy Tab 4 Education can be managed and updated via a Web-based console (available from Google (News - Alert) for an additional fee), allowing IT administrators to centrally manage the entire fleet of devices and freeing up resources for technology training and development.

The Galaxy Tab 4 Education is also compatible with Samsung School - a fully integrated one-to-one learning package that enables interoperability with Samsung large-format classroom displays and other classroom technology, melded together with powerful interactive management software to create a student-centric learning environment. Samsung School provides teachers with classroom management tools such as screen sharing, student screen monitoring and device control. With deployments in nearly 50 countries worldwide, the solution is available in several packages and configurations to meet the needs of individual schools or district.

Samsung's display and interactive whiteboards solutions, powered by the MagicIWB 3.0 management software, will be on display and provide schools with a collaborative centerpiece for learning that is interoperable with PCs and tablets on all major operating systems and ideal for Bring Your Own Device environments. Samsung will also showcase its award-winning portfolio of printers and multifunction devices (MFDs). With Samsung's MobilePrint App, Samsung printers and MFDs allow teachers and students to effortlessly print documents from smartphones and tablets.
