Azad's experience encompasses senior leadership positions in both domestic and international settings with significant responsibilities and achievements in areas of strategic growth, marketing and business development. Azad will be located in the new company's headquarters in Charlotte, NC.

"Ali Azad brings to Toshiba tremendous business experience, industry knowledge and strategic vision," said Mr. Shigenori Shiga, Corporate Executive Vice President of Toshiba Corporation and President and CEO of Toshiba's Power Systems Company. "We anticipate his excellent leadership will ensure a strong start and accelerated growth for TAES. Toshiba previously announced the formation of TAES, a new U.S.-based company that integrates the strengths of three existing businesses: Toshiba International Corporation's (TIC) thermal and hydro power business, Toshiba America Nuclear Energy Corporation's (TANE) steam turbine and generator (STG) business for nuclear power systems, and Westinghouse Electric Company's (WEC) STG business for nuclear power systems. Contacts for sales and services will be unified at TAES to offer customers a broad range of one-stop solutions. The new company will combine the resources and capabilities developed by TIC, TANE and WEC to capture synergies that will reinforce the STG business for new power plants and the service and maintenance business for existing plants, including units supplied by other companies.

Before joining Toshiba, Azad was President of BHI Energy and directed the company's overall growth strategy, business development, mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures. In addition, he was also resposible for the operation of several BHI Energy business units.

Azad holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from Wake Forest University in North Carolina.
