IDC Names SimpliVity a Leader in IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Hyperconverged Systems 2014

SimpliVity has been positioned in the leader's category in the IDC (News - Alert) MarketScape: Worldwide Hyperconverged Systems 2014 Vendor Assessment (doc #253267, December 2014).

Eric Sheppard, IDC's research director of storage software, noted the reasons behind a growing demand for converged systems: "As businesses embark on a transformation to become data-driven entities, they will demand a data infrastructure that supports extreme scalability and flexible acquisition patterns and offer unprecedented economies of scale. Hyperconverged systems hold the promise and the potential to assist buyers along this data-driven journey."

Doron Kempel, SimpliVity's CEO, says, "Being recognized as a leader by the IDC MarketScape is significant, given we'd been in market less than four quarters at the time of assessment. IDC evaluated the underlying technology of the vendors and its potential. We are pleased to report that since the IDC MarketScape's data assessment mid-2014, SimpliVity quadrupled its quarterly revenues and is continuing to enhance its global network of VARs and end-users."

SimpliVity's unique architecture delivers real-time, once-and-forever deduplication, compression, and optimization to hyperconverge all IT infrastructure below the hypervisor: storage, compute, networking, data protection, plus numerous independent efficiency products, and enables global unified management of all resources and 3x TCO savings. The hyperconverged platform is delivered by SimpliVity as OmniCube, a scalable, modular, 2U building block of x86 resources that offers all the functionality of traditional IT infrastructure in one device; or as OmniStack, where SimpliVity's technology is provided on the customer's choice of x86 based server, such as Cisco (News - Alert) UCS.

To date, SimpliVity has raised $101 million in three rounds of funding from top venture capitalists including Accel Partners, Charles River Ventures, DFJ, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB), and Meritech Capital Partners. The company experienced record-breaking growth in 2014, highlighted by a nearly 500 percent increase in sales and customer acquisition over 2013. Since its GA in 2013, SimpliVity has shipped more than 1500 of its OmniCube and OmniStack system globally. SimpliVity also grew to more than 400 employees worldwide, with more than 270 percent year-over-year-growth, and plans to continue its tremendous growth in 2015.

About IDC MarketScape

IDC MarketScape vendor analysis model is designed to provide an overview of the competitive fitness of ICT (information and communications technology) suppliers in a given market. The research methodology utilizes a rigorous scoring methodology based on both qualitative and quantitative criteria that results in a single graphical illustration of each vendor's position within a given market. IDC MarketScape provides a clear framework in which the product and service offerings, capabilities and strategies, and current and future market success factors of IT and telecommunications vendors can be meaningfully compared. The framework also provides technology buyers with a 360-degree assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of current and prospective vendors.
