Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto, one of the world's premier intellectual property law firms, is proud to announce that Michael Furrow, Daniel Minion, and Christina Schwarz have been elected partners of the firm, and John Kirkland has been promoted to counsel at the firm, all effective January 1, 2015.

Michael Furrow, Litigation, New York

Michael Furrow, Ph.D. practices general intellectual property law with an emphasis on complex pharmaceutical and biotechnology patent litigation. He has litigated patent infringement cases pertaining to drugs for treating Alzheimer's disease, breast cancer, epilepsy, gastric acid-related disorders, HIV/AIDS, and various endocrine and vascular diseases. Dr. Furrow also has experience with contested proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, pre-suit investigations, non-infringement and validity opinions, and intellectual property due diligence. He received his J.D. from Harvard Law School, his Ph.D. from Harvard University, and his A.B. from Harvard College.

Daniel Minion, Litigation, New York

Daniel Minion's practice focuses on complex patent litigation with an emphasis on the pharmaceutical and chemical arts. r. Minion has counseled clients on a wide range of pharmaceuticals for use in the treatment of breast cancer, renal disease, hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, epilepsy, hormonal disorders, leukemia, osteoporosis, Alzheimer's, and multiple sclerosis. Prior to law school, Mr. Minion worked as a medicinal chemist for Agouron Pharmaceuticals. He received his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, his M.S. from the University of Pittsburgh, and his B.S. from Stanford University.



Christina Schwarz, Litigation, New York

Christina Schwarz's practice focuses on complex patent litigation under the Hatch-Waxman Act and contested proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, including inter partes review proceedings and patent interference proceedings. Ms. Schwarz has experience counseling clients, providing opinions, and working on cases involving a range of pharmaceutical and biotechnology products, including drugs or treatments for renal disease, HCV, Pompe disease, and schizophrenia; modified dosage forms; drug delivery devices; and polymers. In 2007, Ms. Schwarz served as a law clerk to the Honorable Justice Roger T. Hughes (News - Alert) of the Federal Court of Canada. She received her J.D. from the University of Western Ontario and both her B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the University of Toronto.


John Kirkland, Litigation, New York

John Kirkland counsels life sciences clients in all aspects of complex patent litigation. He has litigated patent infringement cases involving a number of pharmaceutical and biologic products including drugs or treatments for neurodevelopmental disorders, renal disease, rheumatoid arthritis, stroke, and cancer. Mr. Kirkland's experience includes providing opinions and conducting intellectual property due diligence. Prior to law school, Mr. Kirkland worked for Merck & Co. as a scientist. While in law school, Mr. Kirkland served as a Notes and Comments Editor of the Arts and Entertainment Law Journal, was a Heyman Scholar, and a member of the Intellectual Property Law Students Association. He received his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and his B.A., magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Rutgers University.
