TXU Energy Partnership with EnergyHub Enhances Value of Company's TXU iThermostat, Gives Customers More Flexible Control Options

TXU Energy, which introduced the first two-way, Internet-enabled thermostat in Texas' competitive electricity market, today announced a new partnership to give customers even faster connections with and greater control over their home and business environments.

The agreement with energy management and demand response software platform provider EnergyHub builds on the success TXU Energy has achieved with its widely recognized TXU iThermostatTM and demand response program, while also providing new features and benefits to TXU Energy customers. EnergyHub's platform provides customers with greater control of and savings from connected thermostats.

One of the biggest enhancements for customers is the addition of location-based thermostat adjustments to ensure automated energy savings and comfort.

With location-based controls, customers can program their thermostats to reduce heating and cooling system usage while they and their mobile devices are away, and to start up those systems as they move closer toward their homes and businesses. The settings can be customized to meet each customer's preferences and can be set for multiple devices in the same household. Some other Internet-enabled thermostats are tied to one mobile device, reducing flexibility and potential savings opportunities.

"TXU Energy is clearly focused on a superior customer experience," said EnergyHub Co-Founder and President Seth Frader-Thompson. "The company is deliberate about creating relevant value for customers and is committed to driving smart innovation in North America's most competitive market. That's a perfect match for us, and we're excited to help TXU Energy deliver for Texans."

TXU Energy introduced the TXU iThermostat in 2009 to help customers minimize wasteful electricity consumption and to help reduce pressure on the state's power grid during periods of extremely high usage. Customers have cheered the benefits that the device and conservation program have delivered, and many retailers have followed the company's lead with remote thermostat controls and demand response programs.

Building on its strong foundation, TXU Energy is now working with EnergyHub to expand the energy- and money-saving features and to make the TXU iThermostat experience even easier and more convenient.

"EnergyHub is well positioned to help us deliver an even better customer experience through its innovative online tools, mobile capabilities and installation services," said Scott Hudson, chief operating officer for TXU Energy.

Customers who add the TXU iThermostat to their TXU Energy services will access their remote thermostat controls with fewer clicks and will get even more intuitive options for energy efficient settings. The new benefits will phase in for current TXU iThermostat customers.

Hudson said the EnergyHub partnership illustrates part of the future for TXU Energy.

"Consumers can always depend on us as a consumer-centric retail electricity provider," he said. "At the same time, we will continue to deliver additional value to help customers protect, connect with and control their homes and businesses while also conserving electricity."
