Burner App Adds MMS and Overhauls Design; Enables New Features and Faster, More Integrated Communications

LOS ANGELES --(Business Wire)--

Burner, a privacy layer for your phone, today announced MMS support for both iOS and Android (News - Alert) users. Consumers can now send and receive picture messages with anyone, across all U.S. and Canadian carriers, right from Burner's standalone native mobile app. The company also announced a complete redesign of the Burner app, a number of new features, and a new one-year free trial program available exclusively to new iOS users for a limited time.

Burner, which enables users to have multiple real phone numbers connected to their mobile phone, has been redesigned around a single, unified inbox, making it faster than ever for users to make and respond to calls, texts and picture messages. Users can now access a slate of new features that make it easier to integrate Burner into their everyday routines, a new "Today" extension, separate contact lists for each line, a Touch ID-based privacy lock and custom colors. The redesigned app is available today from the App Store and will be rolled out to Android customers in the coming months.

"We're seeing a huge expansion in use cases for secondary numbers, especially given the growth of online marketplaces and sharing-economy services," said Greg Cohn, co-founder and CEO of Burner. "Text messages have become the 'new email' and have created even more everyday situations where it makes sense to use Burner. We're thrilled with the design quality and features of our latest update, which makes it easier and faster to integrate Burner into your everyday life."

Burner also released a Chrome extension, giving customers one-click access to Burner numbers while completing online forms and other web-based activities where they do not want to give out their primary mobile number.

Burner is the simplest way for users to keep their personal mobile number private, enabling consumers to create real, temporary mobile phone numbers to use for voice, text and now picture messaging. Burner gives consumers an easy and safe way to manage multiple aspects of their lives. Other top use cases for Burner include a secondary personal phone line, multiple business lines, service forms and online dating.

For the past year, Burner has consistently been ranked as one of the top three grossing apps in the App Store's 'Utilities' category and one of the top 15 apps in the 'Communications' category on Google (News - Alert) Play.
