Audible Studios Releases Original Audio Drama by Jeffery Deaver, The Starling Project

NEWARK, N.J. --(Business Wire)--

Audible, Inc., the world's largest seller and producer of downloadable audiobooks and other spoken-word content, today announced the release of an original audiobook written by New York Times bestselling author Jeffery Deaver, entitled The Starling (News - Alert) Project. Deaver's dramatic, dialogue-driven, edge-of-your-seat adventure takes listeners from Mexico to Marseille to Prague as a war crimes investigator and his team pursues a mysterious mastermind, bent on destruction, known only as The Starling. Written exclusively for Audible, The Starling Project is available for download at www.audible.com/StarlingProject.

"I have always been a huge fan of spoken storytelling, which provides so many opportunities for transcendent experiences in enjoying fiction," said Deaver. "So I was delighted to team up with Audible to create The Starling Project. By assembling a stellar cast and working their brilliant production magic, Audible has truly made the story come alive."

"Jeffery Deaver's gripping new tale will captivate listeners with its twists and turns," said Audible EVPand Publisher Beth Anderson. "And with thirty talented actors and state-of-the-art sound and music design, The Starling Project is a truly immersive listening experience that sets a new bar for audio entertainment."

"Deaver's multitude of fans will need to plug in their ear buds to enjoy his latest work," added Anderson.

Deaver is the author of more than 30 novels, which have appeared on best-seller lists around the world and have been translated into more than 25 languages. In The Starling Project, Alfred Molina plays war crimes investigator Harold Middleton, a character who appeared in earlier Audible original productions The Chopin Manuscript and The Copper Bracelet. The Chopin Manuscript won the Audie Award for Audiobook of the Year.

Among the acclaimed actors who have performed other works of literature for Audible are Dan Stevens, Dustin Hoffman (News - Alert), Jake Gyllenhaal, Kate Winslet, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins. In 2013, Audible Studios won its first Grammy Award, for its production of Janis Ian's memoir Society's Child, and also won the Audie Award for Audiobook of the Year, for Colin Firth's performance of Graham Greene's The End of the Affair.

Audible invented and commercialized the first digital audio player in 1997, and has since been at the forefront of the explosively growing audiobook download segment.
