Iraqi mobile operators pay USD 307 million for 3G licece [Kuwait News Agency]


(Kuwait News Agency Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BAGHDAD, Nov 10 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi Communications and Media Commission (CMC) has signed a 3G service contract with three main mobile operators operating in Iraq at a cost of USD 307 million each.



Under the contract, the three mobile network operators: Zain Iraq, Asiacell and Korek, can utilize the 3G spectrum in return for USD 307 million each, with the sum to be paid in four installments, CMS Chairman Safaeddin Al-Rabea told KUNA.

The move is expected to create a quantum jump in communication services in Iraq, thus positively reflecting on the economic situation in general, he added.
