Tele2 strikes two M2M/IoT deals [TeleGeography CommsUpdate](TeleGeography CommsUpdate Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Swedish telecoms group Tele2 and engineering firm L&T Technology Services have entered into a strategic partnership for creating machine-to-machine (M2M)/Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for the transport sector, including automotive, aero, rail, shipping and off-highway/specialised vehicles. Example solutions could include keeping passengers updated regarding departures, arrivals and delays, or remote monitoring of engine performance whereby data is collected automatically and warnings issued when maintenance is required thereby reducing risk of damage to engines. The M2M/IoT market in the transport/mass transit sector is poised to go from USD10.4 billion in 2014 to USD29.4 billion by 2017 and USD76.1 billion by 2020, according to a press release. Rami Avidan, head of Tele2 M2M Global Solutions, commented: 'I am really excited about the partnership with L&T Technology Services and to see how our different expertise can influence the transportation industry to become even more efficient and cost conscious with new business models.' In another recent tie-up, Tele2 and Cubic Telecom have agreed to deliver M2M/IoT services to enterprise customers with global business presence in the PC OEM and automotive sectors. Via the agreement, Tele2's global enterprise customers will gain access to Cubic Telecom's end-to-end cloud-based solutions to quickly deploy and implement M2M/IoT services. Barry Napier, CEO of Cubic Telecom, said: 'We want to make it as easy as possible for enterprises to run their businesses.
