ER-Telecom extends 200Mbps broadband internet to Ekaterinburg [TeleGeography CommsUpdate]


(TeleGeography CommsUpdate Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Perm-based cableco ER-Telecom, which trades under the banner Dom.ru, has launched a new 200Mbps broadband internet service in Ekaterinburg, ComNews reports, making it the third city after Kazan and Ufa to be upgraded with the cable operator's 'Dom.ru 200' service. In a press release, ER-Telecom said subscribers taking Dom.ru 200 will need to purchase a new router and network card, adding that an optional digital television service, Dom.ru TV, is also available. *According to TeleGeography's GlobalComms Database, ER-Telecom booked revenues of RUB19.02 billion (USD523.7 million) for the twelve months ended 31 December 2013, an improvement of 37% year-on-year. Of the top-line figure, broadband services accounted for the lion's share of sales, generating RUB11.58 billion, up 32% on an annualised basis. Meanwhile, EBITDA for 2013 reached RUB5.71 billion, compared to RUB825 million in 2012; as recently as 2011 ER-Telecom posted negative EBITDA of RUB513 million.
