Virtustream Expands Worldwide Access to Cloud Software and Services Portfolio

WASHINGTON --(Business Wire)--

Virtustream, the enterprise-class cloud software and services provider, today announced the worldwide expansion of its cloud software and services portfolio. The company has added multiple new data center locations, two additional conditionally certified United States federal cloud nodes, and new software sales and delivery offices in Europe with plans to further expand in Asia.

Virtustream is a pure-play cloud software and services provider specializing in moving mission-critical enterprise applications to the cloud: SAP, Microsoft, Oracle (News - Alert), existing custom applications as well as modern web apps. Virtustream provides the most secure, compliant, performance-assured cloud for the enterprise application use-case running in production mode. The five-year-old company has experienced strong growth driven by an increased demand for its software and services and anticipates approaching the $100 million revenue run-rate milestone as it exits 2014. With a five-year compound annual growth rate of approximately 90 percent on a net revenue basis, Virtustream is currently considering filing for a public offering within a year.

"As large businesses and federal agencies are moving to the cloud at an unprecedented pace, they require application performance assurance, security features and compliance frameworks not found in other mainstream cloud services," said Rodney Rogers (News - Alert), chairman and chief executive officer at Virtustream. "We are answering this demand by expanding the reach of our business across the US and around the world. We believe the fact that Virtustream is approaching the $100 million revenue run-rate milestone as a five-year-old company reaffirms our approach to the market, and makes us a unique growth story in the venture-backed cloud software and services space."

The Virtustream software porfolio consists of the Virtustream Advisor™, a cloud modeling and planning software, Virtustream xStream™ a cloud management software platform, and Virtustream ViewTrust™, a risk and compliance monitoring software solution. The xStream software delivers private clouds for enterprises, enables enterprise-class public clouds for service providers (SPs), and connects the two with a variety of hybrid cloud features for true workload federation between on-premises and off-premises deployment models.

A number of SPs around the world currently use Virtustream's cloud management software xStream to power their enterprise-class public clouds including UOL in Brazil, Mobily in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, COLT (News - Alert) throughout Europe, and IBM uses xStream for workloads on SoftLayer globally, among many others. Virtustream also uses xStream to power its own enterprise-class cloud IaaS in the US and in Western Europe for a diverse set of customers such as Domino Sugar, Heinz, Kawasaki, Hess, Blackbaud, Veyance Technologies, Morris Communications, Diesel Direct, Shred-it, Scotts Miracle-Gro, Aruba Networks (News - Alert), and Lexmark among many others.

Global Reach Extends to Europe, Strengthens in the US

According to Gartner, cloud computing will make up the bulk of IT spending by 2016. Demand by multinational enterprises to use the cloud for added agility, scalability and cost-efficiency is rising rapidly, as evidenced by Virtustream's strong international demand. In response, Virtustream has added multiple new data center locations from which to run its cloud IaaS nodes:

  • Global data center provider Equinix in Amsterdam to deliver consistent performance while also providing faster connectivity and network speed.
  • Tier 4 data center provider Supernap in Las Vegas to meet the most stringent security requirements and strengthen Virtustream's US commercial and federal data center footprint.
  • Virtustream is also working with IBM (News - Alert) to expand data center locations worldwide for its xStream cloud IaaS nodes as customer capacity and geographical requirements dictate.

To support its global software business, Virtustream has also added a sales office in Geneva, Switzerland, a solutions delivery office in Waldorf, Germany, and further plans additional offices in the Asia Pacific region.
