The Optical Society Announces Media Event to Celebrate Rising Stars in the Science of LightWASHINGTON --(Business Wire)-- The Optical Society (OSA) today announced that it will host an inaugural press briefing to recognize a panel of three early career female scientists and innovators who have already made significant contributions to their respective fields in the science of light. The lunch press briefing will be held on Monday, November 17, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. at OSA headquarters in Washington, D.C., located at 2010 Massachusetts Avenue, NW. Featured speakers with their specialty areas of focus are:

Formerly a professor of optics at the University of Rochester, in 2005 Houde-Walter left the university to found her own company LaserMax, Inc. which develops quantum cascade laser technology.
