PM to open digital centre entrepreneur conference on Tuesday


(United News of Bangladesh Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Dhaka, Nov 9 (UNB) Digital Centre Entrepreneur Conference 2014 will be held at the national parade square on Tuesday (Nov 11) marking the 4th anniversary of establishing Union Digital Centres.



Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the concerence, arranged by Information (a2i) programme under the Prime Minister's office. PM's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy will be present.

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak gave the details on Sunday at a press conference, arranged by a2i at Chameli Hall of the Prime Minister's Office.


The state minister said the conference will mostly focus on "honoring, encouraging and acknowledging the contributions of 11,000 technology warriors" who are working in digital centers across the country.

He said the Prime Minister set the goal to establish a knowledge-based society based on technology as the government aims at upgrading the union digital centers as the hub of all technology based works.

Junaid said: "The 'vision 2021' is now halfway as we've achieved so many targets like the availability of internet across the country at reasonable price providing of diverse government services via internet implementation of multimedia classrooms for 40 lakh students and providing examination results through cell phone.

The project of E-filing in all government offices and the Electronic Land Record System are progressing, he added.

Project Director of a2i Kabir Bin Anwar presented the keynote paper at the press conference. Senior Secretary of Local Government Division Monjur Hossain also spoke on the occasion.
