United States : TELSTRA expands 700MHz 4GX rollout to BRISBANE [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Telstra is to differentiate its new 4G network expansion into 700MHz spectrum band, labelling the network "4GX".

The firm will expand its 700MHz 4G network out from Sydney, Perth, Darwin, Adelaide, and a couple of regional locations to Hobart, Ulladulla, Albany, Murray Bridge, Narrawallee, Brisbane, Shepparton, Bateman's Bay, Swansea, Port Macquarie, Bunbury, and Chinchilla.

Telstra, along with Optus, obtained spectrum in the 700MHz band as part of spectrum auctions in 2013, and will roll out 4G on those networks at the start of January 2015.

Telstra will refer to network as 4GX, and boost the lower-frequency spectrum band as able to give in-building coverage better than higher-frequency 1800MHz 4G network offers today. The lower spectrum band will allow Optus and Telstra with 700MHz spectrum to reach further distances with 4G, enhancing the availability of services in remote and regional areas.
