H&R Block's top marketing exec joins The Ad Council board [Kuwait News Agency]

(Kuwait News Agency Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Kathy Collins, chief marketing officer at H&R Block Inc., has joined the board of The Ad Council, a nonprofit that is the largest producer of national public service announcements in the United States.

The Ad Council produces about 40 national public service campaigns every year on behalf of not-for-profit organizations and federal agencies. Its board is a veritable Who's Who of some of the nation's top marketing talent. Collins is part of a list of 16 new board members that includes marketing executives from American Express, Bloomberg, Kellogg Co., Bacardi North America and NBCUniversal.

Collins will certainly be able to hold her own. She's a 27-year marketing veteran, starting her career at Informix Software in Lenexa. She later worked for Bill Gates on the launch of the first Windows operating system. She also has experience working with brands such as Pizza Hut, Hershey's, Sprint Corp. and Lee Jeans.

Collins joined H&R Block in 2006 and became chief marketing officer in October 2013. Under her leadership, H&R Block developed the Get Your Billion Back America campaign, which had record rates for campaign recall and linkage to the brand.
