Elliptic Technologies and CableLabs Server Reference Device Approved for DLNA's VidiPath Certification Program [Emirates News Agency (WAM) (United Arab Emirates)]

(Emirates News Agency (WAM) (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Elliptic Technologies, a leading provider of embedded security solutions for the connected world, today announced that its tVault™ for DTCP-IP solution being used in the CableLabs CVP-2 Server Reference Device for the VidiPath™ Certification program, has been qualified by the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA). The qualified Reference Device based on Elliptic's robust tVault™ for DTCP-IP content protection solution meets the DLNA guidelines for secure deployment of premium TV content to devices in the home and will be used by DLNA testing facilities to certify VidiPath compliant products.

The VidiPath certification program is a set of required specifications issued by the DLNA for secure streaming and sharing of premium TV and audio services over the home network to multiple consumer devices. These mandatory guidelines ensure premium content is protected from unauthorized copying and misuse and is a vital enabler for multi-screen viewing of subscription content.

Elliptic's tVault™ for DTCP-IP (Digital Transmission Content Protection over Internet Protocol) provides advanced security technology to protect premium audio and video content streamed on connected devices such as smartphones, tablets, digital TVs, set top boxes, gaming and other media devices both inside and outside the home. Elliptic's solution automatically negotiates between platforms and enables authentication to verify the client's DLNA VidiPath Certification.

"DTCP-IP has the backing of major film studios, and our certification with VidiPath reinforces Elliptic's strength in this security space as the gold standard," said Vijay Dube, President and CEO of Elliptic Technologies. "Our close working relationship with CableLabs and the DLNA solidifies our commitment to providing deep security solutions to protect the growing technical demands of the digital home for any device." "The CableLabs CVP-2 Server Reference Device is an important contribution for the launch of the VidiPath Certification Program and the overall adoption of the DLNA CVP-2 guidelines," said Tom Lookabough, Executive Vice President for R&D at CableLabs. "Elliptic's tVaultTM for DTCP-IP solution provided us with a robust content protection component that was important in getting our Server Reference Device qualified." Elliptic and CableLabs first announced this reference implementation at IBC last month and have now met all the criteria for full DLNA certification.
