Algeria : NETWORK deals with Telenor, Algeria Telecom gained by Ericsson [TendersInfo (India)]


(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Separate network deals with Telenor and Algeria Telecom is signed by Ericsson.

Telenor has signed into a 5 year agreement with the vendor that covers radio hardware and connected services. Ericsson under the terms of the contract will offer its multi-standard RBS6000 base stations to support the deployment of 2G, 3G and LTE networks. It will in addition offer installation, maintenance and support services.



Hilde Tonne, head of group industrial development at Telenor, in a statement said, "Given our long-standing and solid relationship with Ericsson, this agreement will enable us to deliver a high-quality customer experience and secure the most efficient networks possible for Telenor's business units .

She said that LTE in particular will be "one of the major investment areas" for Telenor in the coming years.


Ericsson moreover declared that it has won a contract to upgrade Algeria Telecom's broadband network.

The operator will set up Ericsson's broadband network gateways (BNG) and provider edge (PE) applications, enabling it to offer the latest in consumer and business services from a single platform.

With a modernised network, Algeria Telecom will be in a position to create triple-play bundles that comprise IPTV and video-on-demand for residential customers, and offer enterprises secure VPN services.

Anders Lindblad, head of Ericsson's cloud and IP business unit said, "This agreement is a result of the solid relationship that we have built up with Algeria Telecom over the years and a proof point of Ericsson's competitive strength .
