The ConnectED
Initiative seeks to place effective and engaging educational
technology into America's classrooms, reaching 99% of American students
with next generation broadband and high-speed wireless by 2017. In June
2013, President Barack Obama announced the initiative and called for
support from the federal government, businesses, states, school
districts and communities. Apple (News - Alert) committed to donate iPads and MacBooks
along with other enabling products and professional development tools in
support of the Initiative. Aerohive Networks, as a partner and
contributor with Apple, will generously provide the Wi-Fi hardware,
including 802.11ac access points and switches, for the devices and tools
delivered by Apple.
ENA Air, ENA's fully managed Wi-Fi service, was selected by Apple
because it embraces the Aerohive (News - Alert)-provided infrastructure and adds
cutting-edge Wi-Fi networking services, including design, engineering,
installation, support and monitoring, as well as innovative online
analytics for comprehensive insight into the Wi-Fi network.
"ENA is delighted to be working in conjunction with both Apple and
Aerohive Networks (News - Alert) to deliver high-quality technology and
enterprise-class Wi-Fi service to schools selected by Apple to
participate in the program," said ENA Chief Technology Officer Michael
McKerley. "ENA (News - Alert) is committed to helping schools with high-speed broadband
and other technology solutions, enabling students and educators to gain
access to the digital learning tools that optimize 21st century learning
environments."
ENA is proud to support the ConnectED Initiative that broadens access
and connectivity to students regardless of income, transforming learning
opportunities for students in the classroom.
