ACKme Introduces Low Power, High Performance Wi-Fi Module, AMW006 'Numbat'LOS GATOS, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- ACKme's first generation Wi-Fi module, Wallaby, offered incredible throughput for devices designed to address higher-end 'IoT' (Internet-of-Things) products such as audio and video products. Today, ACKme announces the availability of a new lower power module designed for more traditional command & control or sensor type applications. The new module; the 'AMW006' - Numbat. The module, powered by the latest WiConnect 2.0 release, offers a full read/write file system that can be used to store application data and web pages to be served directly from the module. WiConnect 2.0 commands also offer direct HTTPS file upload or download from any web server on the Internet using bank-level security. Using WiConnect, each uniquely signed module can also download fully secure, over-the-air wireless updates that allow individual firmware bundles to be delivered to any individual, or group of modules in the field. The Numbat module also runs a high-performance secure embedded TCP/IP networking stack with support for SSL/TLS/HTTPS and numerous Wi-Fi networking protocols including TCP client/server, UDP (News - Alert) client/server, HTTP client/server, DHCP client/server, DNS, SNTP and much more. WiConnect can be configured to operate in a verbose human friendly mode or a binary based machine friendly mode making it easy to work with features in the lab and optimized for communication with microcontrollers in deployed products. Some features included with Numbat and the WiConnect library are:
The AMW006 Numbat module is supported by a number of evaluation and development platforms including the microcontroller agnostic, AMW006-E03 'Moray' board that includes a simple USB-serial converter that allows PC based tools such as a terminal emulator to validate both the WiConnect API and Numbat's physical performance. For users choosing to develop with Arduino, Nucleo and FRDM platforms, Numbat is supported by the AMW006-A01 'Mantis' board and WiConnect drivers are available on the mbed developer website. Low volume, 1K piece pricing for the AMW006 Numbat module is USD $12.92 with the AMW006-E03 'Moray' evaluation board available from all leading distributors.
