Lagos NIPR Stakeholders' Conference Holds Weekend


(AllAfrica Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) THE Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations is scheduled to hold its 1st Annual Stakeholders' Conference on Friday October 31, 2014 at the MUSON Centre, Onikan Lagos with the theme: "Effective Stakeholders' Engagement and Corporate Profitability".



According to the Chairman, Mr. Joseph Okonmah, the conference will attract respected personalities in the corporate world. "We are honoured to note that the plenary session is being chaired by the President, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, GCON, while the keynote address is expected to be delivered by the governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN)", he said.

Speaking further, he noted that the conference and workshop involving major corporate organizations in the country will attract highly respected resource persons and provide opportunities for leading organizations in the country to make presentations.


Some of the guest lecturers expected at the conference include; Dr. Rotimi Oladele, Fnipr, President/ Chairman Governing Council of NIPR; Prof Pat. Utomi, Founder CVL; Dr Isah Momoh, Director, PhD Programme & HOD Communication and Media Enterprise, Pan-Atlantic University; Mr Femi Adesina, MD/ Editor- in-Chief, The Sun Newspaper/ President NGE; Chido Nwakanma, President PRCAN; Dr Phil Osagie, Managing Partner, JSP Corporate Communications Nigeria and Mr Olu Akanmu, Senior Vice President/ Divisional Head of Retail Banking, FCMB.

He said the theme was picked based on the premise and understanding that effective communication and stakeholders' relationship is pivotal to the success of any organization or institution.

On what to expect, "We believe that the occasion will provide a positive platform to address issues affecting major corporate organizations in the country. It is also a unique opportunity to engage the leaders in the corporate world who are shaping the direction of major businesses in the country." He added that there is need to tap into the enormous potential that Nigeria affords. "It is noteworthy that albeit the challenging economic climate, Africa continues to offer great opportunities for growth, of which Nigeria represents the fulcrum of African's economic emancipation." He concluded that the 1st Lagos NIPR Annual Corporate Stakeholders' Conference is an innovation that will help to maximize the profitability that effective communication affords both in the public and private sectors as well as meet the business development needs of the leading organisations in Nigeria.

"The conference theme incorporates overarching objectives within business management, strategies, innovation and entrepreneurship as well as information management, among other topics" he explained.
